Well, basically I love all kinds of music, if only the melody and/or the lyrics are good. What I first like/dislike about a song is the beat/melody. That makes me either like or dislike the song, after that I listen to the lyrics.
I mostly listen to songs playing on the radio, but I also try to find songs/bands/artists not so mainstream.
My absolute favorite bands are Hurts and Coldplay. Their songs have so many levels in both lyrics and melody. The kind of songs I never get tired of hearing and always move me. Other good ones are Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Linkin Park, Newkid, Rihanna...
